Sustainability became a passion of Louise’s after learning how fast fashion impacted the environment. This led to a curiosity in consumerism and exploring ways we can spend without destroying our planet.

Louise is constantly looking to further her knowledge and has studied both ‘Fashion and the Climate Crisis’ and ‘Sustainability and Our Future’ through the University of Edinburgh.

Recently Louise was at the Ideal Home Show at Olympia talking about how we can make simple eco-friendly swaps in the home and teamed up with the Soil Association to host their annual Organic Beauty & Wellbeing conference which looked at the UK-certified organic beauty market in depth.

She currently shares tips on environmentally friendly living on her Instagram account @louisegookey and is helping to develop Sustainable Fashion Week in London.

“It is clear we need to reduce the amount we buy and reuse items as much as possible - but when we do have to buy, let’s buy better.

“Yes, governments and businesses need to do more, but so do we as individuals. We need to keep this as a topic of conversation and spend our money carefully.”

As the Zero Waste Chef, Anne Marie Bonneau, said: “We don’t need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly. We need millions of people doing it imperfectly.”
